Have you seen any episodes of that TV series COPS lately? Well I actually enjoy watching that series a lot. I think it is great reality television and a lot more interesting than many other reality shows.

The reason I bring it up is because a lot of times on that show you will see cops using their taser guns to stun criminals.  There has been a lot of controversy over the use of these stun guns but the company TASR is still in business and innovating as well.  This new product they just came out with is called the XREP.

Basically it does the same thing as their original TASR guns, essentially incapacitating the would be criminal with an electric shock.  However this shotgun has a significantly longer maximum range of 100 feet.

Smart Swipe is a rather simple gadget that basically lets you buy things online without having to type in your credit card numbers and submit them to the sites you like to shop at.  Instead what you do is scan your credit card in this credit card reader which is then attached to your computer via usb.

So basically you get that same feeling of swiping your credit cards in brick and mortar retail stores.  As they describe it:

SmartSwipe works by encrypting the personal information of the card holder — card number, name, address — before it gets to the computer so it is encrypted throughout its trip across the Internet to the merchant’s bank and is neither stored on the bank’s computer network or the merchant’s.

Well I suppose this device comes in handy to those still too paranoid about buying products online.  But I wonder how many people will actually buy this product online by typing in their credit card numbers since these are the people who are most suspicious of online shopping safety? Hmmm.

This is really quite innovative and probably will be a high demand product for parents with a newborn.  This little baby outfit changes color when your baby has a fever so you will instantly know without having to check the temperature with traditional methods.  So it really is a hands free way to keep tabs on your baby’s health.

The details are somewhat sketchy on these but battery station dot com claims they have a windproof lighter.

I do not quite know exactly how these lighters are able to back up that claim, but certainly it is a compelling idea, maybe a long time overdue?  If I could have just one penny for every time someone cussed because their lighter flame blew out on them during a windy day I would be a very rich man.  To have a lighter that performs during the best of weather and the worst of weather is a much needed gadget I would say.

Heck, what about the poor souls who climb mount Everest every year and then want to light one up at the peak of their climb? Certainly they would like to have a windproof lighter!

So here are the sketchy details of the fire one butane lighter:
