Senior Citizen Ergonomic Cell Phone Gadget
Most senior citizens enjoy products that are simple to use but also highly functional and reliable. The problem is that most gadgets made today have too many menus, choices and features which can make it very cumbersome to just do simple tasks and do them reliably.
I just have to give you my take on the Jitterbug cell phone. It has to be one of the most ergonomic cell phones I have ever seen. I do not own a Jitterbug cell phone, but still it is clear to me that this phone was designed with Senior citizens in mind. Simply put, it is ergonomic.
But why does this cell phone have to be limited to senior citizens? Why not kids or teens or middle age folks too? There is nothing to be embarrassed about if you own a phone like this. It is easy to read, easy to enter phone numbers, and easy to make and receive calls with… isn’t that what phones were supposed to be designed for ???
Don’t get me wrong I like high tech gadgets and I like fully featured gadgets as well. But there is indeed a lot to be said for gadgets that do their primary function and do it very well while leaving all the other options for those more technically inclined.
A great direct marketer I used to follow named Gary Halbert was always looking for a phone like this. He passed away a couple years ago, God rest his soul. But I remember him in one of his conference calls requesting of his listeners to find for him a cell phone that simply takes calls and can make calls and does NOTHING ELSE. He didn’t want one that will save messages or have an answering machine or address book or all that other nonsense. Just a PHONE. It is indeed an interesting concept. To be honest I would not mind having a phone that just takes calls and can make calls. Sometimes I just don’t want to go through voice mail and listen to old messages. If I am available to receive a call then I will pick up the phone. And if I am not, then oh well I guess I am just not available ! 
The Jitterbug has:
- Large, backlit keypad to make dialing easy
- Bright color screen with large numbers
- No confusing menus, options accessible through yes and no questions
- No contracts
Most gadgets try to deliver a large value proposition by offering scores of features, menus and options on any particular gadget. For senior citizens this can be more than annoying. Instead gadget makers should focus on doing just one thing and doing it very well and better than all other gadget makers.
Perhaps the senior citizen cell phone gadget will start a trend of more ergonomic highly functional and usable gadgets for the masses as well.
