Smart Swipe is a rather simple gadget that basically lets you buy things online without having to type in your credit card numbers and submit them to the sites you like to shop at.  Instead what you do is scan your credit card in this credit card reader which is then attached to your computer via usb.

So basically you get that same feeling of swiping your credit cards in brick and mortar retail stores.  As they describe it:

SmartSwipe works by encrypting the personal information of the card holder — card number, name, address — before it gets to the computer so it is encrypted throughout its trip across the Internet to the merchant’s bank and is neither stored on the bank’s computer network or the merchant’s.

Well I suppose this device comes in handy to those still too paranoid about buying products online.  But I wonder how many people will actually buy this product online by typing in their credit card numbers since these are the people who are most suspicious of online shopping safety? Hmmm.
